Puppy Love! Miley Cyrus Falls Hard for Orphaned Pups at iHeart Radio Music Festival — and Her Sister Noah Adopts One
by Christina Dugan @ PEOPLE.com
Mon Sep 25 14:15:37 PDT 2017
There’s no resisting some good old-fashioned puppy love!
On Saturday, stars such as Miley and Noah Cyrus, Lorde, Macklemore, French Montana and more gathered backstage at the fourth annual iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas to mix and mingle with some adorable puppies … all of which were up for adoption through #LovePup, a dog rescue foundation created by nationally syndicated radio host, Johnjay Van Es of KISS FM’s Johnjay and Rich Morning Show.
“I witnessed the magic of #LovePup this weekend at the iHeart Radio Music Festival,” Van Es exclusively tells PEOPLE. “We saw that inexplicable connection that happens when a dog and person find their soul mate. Even if they didn’t take the puppies home with them, everyone got to feel the kind of love that only a dog can give. It was a de-stresser, ice breaker and just lots off to get to see these incredibly talented artists on a human level.”
Van Es created the foundation in 2015, and has since found homes for more than 500 stray dogs while receiving the support of celebrities, such as Selena Gomez, Zedd and Enrique Iglesias, along the way.
And while celebs enjoyed the company of the furry friends over the weekend, Noah Cyrus “connected immediately” to one pup in particular.
The 17-year-old “Make Me” singer fell completely head over heels for a little one — and decided to take him home.
“Noah almost started crying ,” says Van Es. “She’s going through a breakup and needed that puppy!” (It probably helps that big sis Miley is quite the rescue animal lover.)
With the help of his wife, Blake, and their three sons — Jake, 14, Kemp, 13, and Dutch, 10 — the Van Es family has transformed their home into a full-on dog rescue center. Taking in stray dogs from around the Phoenix area and providing them with medical attention, shelter and food, the family of five is dedicated to finding forever homes for their furry friends.
“Rescuing dogs is something my wife and I have done pretty much our whole marriage,” Van Es previously told PEOPLE. “We’ll take any dog. Every dog deserves to find love.”
From the looks of it, these pups certainly found love with their celeb soul mates.
As far as #LovePup’s future? The Van Es family has big plans!
“I have all these people that want to volunteer but I don’t have the money to fund anything yet,” he says. “It would be great to get to the point where, I’d like to have a building and have a staff. I’d like to have a ‘no kill’ policy. I want to save as many dogs as I can. I would like there to be a #LovePup chapter in every city. I just need the proper funding. I think it can happen!”

Victoria Arlen is an ESPN personality and former Paralympian swimmer and who, at age 11, was diagnosed with a neurological condition and an autoimmune disease, which affected her spinal cord and left her in a vegetative state for four years. Arlen slowly regained the ability to speak, eat, walk, and move and now is competing on season 25 of Dancing with the Stars — and is blogging about her experience on the ABC reality show exclusively for PEOPLE. Follow Arlen, 22, and her partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy, 31, on Twitter!
Getting to perform on Dancing with the Stars last week was so surreal and life changing.
There of course was a lot of nervous energy going into our first live performance of the season, but I’m on television for a living, so that didn’t scare me. It was my emotions that were getting to me on Monday.
I’ve watching this show throughout various hard situations in my life: from a hospital bed in the ICU, to sitting in a wheelchair at home. So to actually be standing in the center of that ballroom last week got me very emotional. It shot to the top of my “I’m glad I lived” moments.
That being said, my emotions got to me a little more than I expected them to. I never wanted to cry on national television!
Walking out there I looked around at everyone and then looked down at my pink fringe outfit and thought, “I can’t believe this is happening to me!” But then I looked up and saw a part of the video package that showed me in a hospital bed when I was really, really sick. It was a rough piece of footage for me to see. As much as it was a few years ago, I was suddenly right back there feeling the seizure and the pain. I was overcome with emotion. That that little girl who lost everything was now standing in the ballroom in pink fringe pants, completely free and about to dance. I looked over at Val, and we just both were emotional.
Val has become a dear friend of mine over the past few weeks. He’s so supportive and someone who has really believed in me and shown me how much more I’m capable of and how much more I have to do in life. He’s hard on me and pushes me, but I’m grateful for that and can’t wait to see what more we can do together.
Last week’s cha cha was a very challenging dance. It was really fast, and in rehearsal it was hard for me to keep up with the speed. But Val thought our performance went really well Monday. We both just had the time of our lives, and when you really are in it mentally and physically, it can’t help but go well. There was one part that kept tripping me up, but when we got to that moment in the performance and we made it through, I knew we were solid.
WATCH: Interviews With Pros, Judges, Creators & More — Get Your Dancing with the Stars Fix!
It was cool to go and hear the judges’ response and see their reaction to it. After watching us dance, Tom Bergeron came over to me and said, “Look what you just did.” That was really cool. It was exciting to hear the judges’ thoughts and see how everyone responded to it. What Carrie Ann said about how the dance made her feel meant a lot to me. We want to spread joy and redefine for people what’s possible, and the fact that people felt joy watching us is a big honor.
We have two very intense dances this week. The cha cha last week was very joyful and very Victoria. This week we have a tango on Monday and a rumba on Tuesday, and they’re more intense and staccato dances, so I’ve had to channel another side. It’s actually more work for me to not smile than to smile. It’s been a little scary the first couple of runs of our dances, but I have to channel my inner bad bitch tonight. But I’m sure smiles will break through, but that’s just because I’m having such a good time. I know from my experience as a swimmer that you put in the work and practice and come game day your body is ready and you just have to trust your training.
I feel a lot more calm going into this week’s show. Last week I had no idea what to expect, and I was kind of just going in blind. Now, I have a better understanding of how the live shows play out.
Val and I just want to go out there and celebrate and be grateful for this opportunity. If we can help just one person out there, then we’ve done our job. We know there is a bigger purpose than just doing well in the competition. I hope that we’re showing everyone that you can fall and lose everything and still stand up taller than you ever did before.
Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays (at 8 p.m. ET) on ABC.

For the most part, I'm a huge fan of technology. It helps us to communicate, keeps us healthier longer and gives us access to limitless sources of information. At the same time, there is no denying that technology has its downsizes. For example, it can encourage us to abandon genuine relationships in favor of fickle online friendships. It can also keep us locked up indoors when we should be exploring the world. So, today, I’d love to discuss how we can find the right balance between embracing technology and staying connected to the real world. Do you think that technology is mostly good or bad for our health? In what ways has technology improved your life? In what ways has it made it worse?

When Catherine Zeta-Jones is dishing beauty advice — we take notes. The 48-year-old Feud star just revealed some of her skincare secrets in a new interview.
Along with eating well, exercising regularly (tap dancing is one of her go-to methods) and avoiding alcohol, Zeta-Jones relies on a strict beauty regimen in order to maintain her look. One of the most important? “Don’t forget to check your whole body for new and different shape freckles, not just your face, but the bits you don’t look at every day,” the star tells W of the best advice from her dermatologist.
And her facialist’s advice is a bit simpler: “Don’t pick.”
As for the rest of her skincare routine, she relies on three “skincare favorites”: Rhonda Allison Pumpkin E Serum, Sarah Chapman Skinesis Overnight Facial and Methode Physiodermie Soft Face Biopeeling, and adds that Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is the most underrated product.
On a regular day, Zeta-Jones says says she never leaves the house without a small army of products. A “small Mason Pearson hair brush, Charlotte Tilbury mascara, MAC Spice Lip Liner, Marc Jacobs Slow Burn lip color, Clé de Peau Intensive Eye Contour Cream and the foundation. That’s all for now, because the truth is nothing can be done properly in five minutes.”
But the best trick she picked up from the pros she’s worked with through the years comes from makeup artist Dick Page — who once advised her to “blend well.”
So if you’re on a mission for flawless skin and makeup, just get your hands on a few of her faves.
What’s your favorite beauty secret from the star? Sound off below.

A 'Nerdy Eighth Grader' and a Tween Star! Find Out What The Voice's Season 13 Coaches Were Like at the Age of 13
by Brianne Tracy @ PEOPLE.com
Mon Sep 25 15:18:45 PDT 2017
In a clip shared exclusively with PEOPLE, returning coaches of the NBC hit reality singing competition series (premiering Monday night) Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Cyrus, as well as newcomer Jennifer Hudson, are celebrating the show’s 13th season by sharing what they were like at 13 years old.
“I was somewhere singing, I was somewhere dreaming of these moments right now that I’m living,” Hudson says in the clip. “I was the little black girl dreaming up the dreams, sitting on the church steps across the street from my house. That’s what I was doing.”
Cyrus, on the other hand, had already reached child stardom at the age of 11 with her role as the title character on Disney’s Hannah Montana.
“When I was 13 years old, I was filming Hannah Montana so I was working,” Cyrus explains. “I know Adam and everyone else will have all these stories of school — I was working.”
As for Levine’s experience in school at age 13, he remembers being the “nerdy eighth grader” of his class.
“I was still really into sports. I was really into music, but I was still kind of straddling between the two,” the Maroon 5 singer says. “I was not cool. I’m pretty sure I’m not that cool still, but I’m cooler now than I was when I was at 13.”
He adds: “Believe it or not, I was a little bit timid. I wasn’t particularly outgoing at the time.”
Shelton, who is pictured in the video at age 13 with a raccoon and a dog, says he was “pretty weird” at the time.
“I was fascinated by animals and country music videos,” he says. “At the time there was CMT, and I would just sit and watch it for hours in the summertime. In the middle of the day when it was too hot to go outside, I would watch CMT as much as I could.”
The Voice premieres tonight at 8 p.m. on NBC.

Meet Runaway June, a band that’s well on its way to country music superstardom.
The group — comprised of Jennifer Wayne, Naomi Cooke and Hannah Mulholland — has been dubbed the “Dixie Chicks for a new generation,” and with good reason. The band’s hit single “Lipstick” made them the first all-female trio to earn a top 25 hit on the country charts in a decade and with their new single “Wild West” hitting the airwaves, PEOPLE is sharing an exclusive video of the women sharing the story behind their band.
“We’re three women singing and just telling stories that are relevant to people in this time, and we have songs that men enjoy and women are going to love,” lead vocalist Cooke says in the clip.
The three women came up with the ‘runaway’ part of their name as they all share a similar experience of leaving their hometowns to pursue music in Nashville.
Cooke, who is one of 11 children, moved from a little island in Florida to Music City seven years ago.
“I did gigs, and tried to write songs,” she says. “I nannied, I cleaned houses, I waitressed — I did whatever I could to pursue music.”
Mulholland started writing music in her room at the age of 6 or 7 and moved to Nashville from Malibu after realizing that was the only option if she wanted to write music for a living. Wayne, the granddaughter of legendary western actor John Wayne, also knew she needed to make the move if she was serious about music.
“My grandfather gave me the western, cowboy country blood because I always loved country music,” Wayne says. “Eleven years later, here I am with the girls.”
The second part of the band’s name centers on the significance of June, in all meanings of the word, in each of their lives.
“One constant that kept coming up was June — the name June, the month June, there were just all these correlations,” Cooke explains. “So we were like, ‘Okay, maybe there’s something to June.’ I have a sister named June, Jen’s grandmother’s name is June and for Hannah it’s the month. A lot of cool things have happened to us in June.”
Wayne also notes that the band signed their record deal in June. “It’s lucky for us,” Cooke continues.
Cooke and Wayne were introduced to each other by Broken Bow Records founder Benny Brown, who suggested that they write together.Mulholland was brought into the group by Wayne through their “Malibu connection.” From there, it was history.
“We started to write together and it was magical,” Cooke says. “ brought in Hannah and we started writing the best things we had ever written. We knew there was something really special about what we had.”

Today, I want to share 6 guidelines that Melanie gave to our community for getting more from fashion after 60. You may not agree with all of them – I certainly didn’t – but they will certainly get you thinking! More than anything, they will give us something fun to chat about! Do you find yourself dressing differently these days, compared to your 40s, for example? Do you think that there are any “guidelines” that women our age can follow to get the most from our fashion choices? Or, do you think that fashion after 60 is all about comfort?

Chip and Joanna Gaines are the definition of marriage goals, but their relationship didn’t necessarily have a fairytale start.
Joanna agreed to go out on a date with Chip after meeting him and his roommate “Hot John” — who she actually tried to approach minutes earlier, but was too shy — in the waiting room of her dad’s auto shop. She had second thoughts, however, after Chip arrived an hour and a half late to pick her up.
“He didn’t apologize for being late, either. He had so much confidence. I don’t know. I can’t explain it. Only Chip could be an hour and a half late and have no one mad about it,” Joanna writes.

The chapter continues to describe the timeline of their relationship, which didn’t actually start until months after they first went out, when Chip (in typical guy fashion) finally called Joanna back.
“I’d made a bet with Hot John to see who could hold out the longest before calling our dates back,” Chip writes “I really wanted that fifty dollars from John! That’s the only reason I didn’t call.”
After they went out a second time, the rest was history.

Casey Anthony’s Parents Facing Foreclosure on Her Childhood Home As Caylee Memorial Falls Into Disrepair
by Steve Helling @ PEOPLE.com
Mon Sep 25 14:06:38 PDT 2017
According to foreclosure documents obtained by PEOPLE, George and Cindy Anthony allegedly owe $128,852.06 to U.S. Bank for a mortgage on the single-family home. They have previously faced foreclosure proceedings on the same home.
It’s another troubling chapter for the Anthonys, who have struggled financially since their daughter’s high-profile trial and acquittal.
“Everything changed when Caylee died,” a source close to the Anthonys tells PEOPLE. “Everything about the Anthonys was destroyed. The trial ruined George and Cindy’s careers, destroyed their happiness, and tore apart the entire family.”
The Anthonys have filed an answer to the foreclosure, stating that some of the bank’s paperwork is erroneous and that the matter was settled during previous litigation. In addition, the Anthonys are countersuing the bank for allegedly violating the previous settlement.

The family home sits a few hundred feet away from the spot where Caylee Anthony’s remains were found six months after her 2008 disappearance. After Caylee was found, a makeshift memorial sprung up where hundreds of people left crosses, handwritten notes, stuffed animals, toys and flowers.
But PEOPLE visited the memorial on Monday and saw that it has become overgrown with weeds. A caretaker of the adjacent property tells PEOPLE that he hasn’t seen anyone tending to the memorial in months. “Now and then a car will stop,” says Wilfredo Ortiz. “But that is all. No one cleans it up anymore.”

Despite her family’s financial straits, Casey, 31, has a new life in South Florida — about 200 miles away from where she grew up. She works for her private investigator and lives a quiet life with a circle of friends. In a series of interviews with the Associated Press last spring, she said that she has moved on and that she likely won’t have more children.
Casey Anthony doesn’t keep in contact with her father, whom she accused of molesting her during her murder trial, which ended with her acquittal. She has limited contact with her mother.
“This is not Casey’s problem,” says a source close to her. “She feels bad for her mom, but this isn’t her fault and isn’t her issue. She has moved on. She has her own life to lead.”
